Glorious Pots: A Millennium of Southeast Asian Trade

April 8 - May 20, 2006
Asian Arts & Culture Center, Towson University

"Glorious Pots" — 80 old Asian trade ceramics — tells tales of trade, traders, history, technology, adventure and the search for profits. These pots, sought after because of their utility, treasured for their beauty, fired from as early as the 12th century in kilns in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Burma and Laos, were sold throughout Southeast Asia.

This exhibition represents a collaboration of the Asian Arts & Culture Center of Towson University and the Washington Oriental Ceramic Group. The AA&CC and the WOCG gratefully acknowledge the support of the E. Rhodes & Leona B. Carpenter Foundation and the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland and the National Endowment for the Arts.
